Advanced Culinary Skills and Leadership

Culinary Arts II – Chef's Training is an advanced Career and Technical Education (CTE) course designed for students who have successfully completed Culinary Arts I and are ready to take their culinary knowledge and leadership skills to the next level.

Students work in a professional kitchen environment where they refine advanced cooking techniques, develop leadership abilities, and gain experience managing food production as part of a culinary team. The course emphasizes industry standards, professionalism, accountability, and workplace readiness while preparing students for post-secondary education and careers in the culinary and hospitality industries.

Chef's Training challenges students to move beyond learning recipes and begin thinking like culinary professionals.

What Students Will Learn

Students develop advanced skills in:

  • Food preparation and production

  • Advanced cooking techniques

  • YouScience Career Readiness Credentials

  • Additional culinary and workplace readiness certifications as available

Chef's Training prepares students for a variety of careers within the culinary and hospitality industries, including:

Graduation Pathway and Program of Study

Culinary Arts I and Culinary Arts II – Chef's Training form a state-approved Career and Technical Education Program of Study. Students who complete the two-course sequence may use the program as part of a Washington State CTE Graduation Pathway.

By completing the pathway, students gain technical skills, leadership experience, industry-recognized credentials, and workplace readiness that prepare them for college, apprenticeships, military service, and employment.
